This is a delicious and crispy sweet snack prepared with bananas. It is easy to prepare and can also be served as a dessert with maple syrup or chocolate sauce or honey.
Ingredients
1. Bananas ripe (Kerala type nenthran) – 2
2. Ghee – 1Tbsp
3. Coconut oil – 1 Tbsp
4. Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
5. Sugar – 2 Tbsp
6. Egg – 1
7. Bread crumb – 1 cup
8. Oil for frying
Preparation
1. Peel and cut the bananas into cubes.
2. Heat coconut oil. Add the banana pieces and sauté on medium flame for 2 minutes. Add 1 Tbsp ghee and 1 Tbsp sugar and ½ tsp cardamom powder. Sauté till golden and remove from pan and spread on a plate.
3. Beat egg with 1 Tbsp sugar and ½ tsp cardamom powder.
4. Dip the banana pieces in egg mixture and roll on bread crumbs.
5. Heat oil for frying. Deep fry the banana cubes on high flame till golden and remove from oil on to a kitchen towel.
Tips
1. Cinnamon powder also can be used instead of cardamom powder.
2. Bananas should not be too ripened otherwise the popcorns will be mushy.
3. Any oil can be used but coconut oil gives the authentic flavour.
