Squid masala roast is a delicious treat for those who love sea food. It is a spicy and flavourful seafood delicacy. It is popular for its taste and texture. This can be served as a starter or side dish.
Ingredients
1. Squid – 500 gm (cleaned and cut into rings or pieces)
2. Onions sliced – 4 big
3. Crushed ginger garlic – 1 Tbsp each
4. Green chilli slit – 3-4
5. Pepper crushed – 1 tsp
6. Chilli powder – 1 Tbsp
7. Coriander powder – 1½ Tbsp
8. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
9. Curry leaves
10. Fennel seed powder – ½ tsp
11. Tomatoes chopped – 3
12. Coconut bits – ½ cup
13. Kokum – 2 pieces
14. Meat masala or garam masala – 1 tsp
15. Oil – 3 Tbsp
16. Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
17. Dry red chillies – 2
18. Salt
Preparation
1. Mix the squid with sliced onions, ginger garlic, tomatoes, green chillies, pepper powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, fennel seed powder, kokum, meat masala, salt, curry leaves and coconut bits. Keep aside for 30 minutes and cook in a pressure cooker adding half cup of water on medium heat for 3 whistles and keep aside.
2. Heat oil in a pan. Crackle mustard seeds and add red chillies and curry leaves.
3. Add the cooked squid masala to the pan and sauté till it thickens. Remove from flame and serve hot.
Tips
1. Squid should not be over cooked so to retain its texture and tenderness.
