This is a healthy and delicious dish as a side dish or a starter. It is a quick and easy replacement for a meat dish. Soya is a rich source of protein and omega3 fatty acids. It can also be a delicious filling for the wraps.
Ingredients
1. Soya chunks – 1 cup
2. Garam masala – ½ tsp
3. Kashmiri chilli powder – 2 tsp
4. Salt
5. Onion sliced – 1 big
6. Green chilli chopped – 1
7. Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
8. Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
9. Pepper powder – ½ tsp
10. Meat masala – ½ Tbsp
11. Curry leaves – few
12. Tomato chopped – 1 small
13. Tomato sauce – 3 Tbsp
14. Coriander leaves chopped – 1 Tbsp
15. Oil – 2 Tbsp
Preparation
1. Soak the soya chunks (cut to small pieces if the chunks are big in size) in boiled water till it is soft.
2. Drain and wash 2-3 times changing the water.
3. Cook the soaked soya with 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder, ½ tsp garam masala, a pinch of turmeric powder and salt with half cup water on medium flame till it is dry.
4. Add 1 tsp of oil and stir fry for 2-3 minutes. Keep aside.
5. In another pan heat oil, add the sliced onions and chopped green chillies. Sauté till soft. Reduce the flame to medium.
6. Add ginger garlic paste and salt. Sauté till the onion turns light brown.
7. Lower the flame and add 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ½ tsp pepper powder. Sauté and add meat masala and mix well.
8. Add curry leaves, salt and chopped tomato. Cook till tomato is soft.
9. Add 1 Tbsp of tomato sauce and cooked soya chunks. Mix well.
10. Add coriander leaves and curry leaves and 2 Tbsp of tomato sauce. Cook on high flame stirring continuously for 1 minute.
11. Adjust salt and serve hot.
Tips
1. Small soya chunks are preferred for the dish.
