SCALLION AND GARLIC CHEESE BREAD

A delicious and fluffy bread, full of garlic, cheese and green onion flavour. This is a snack or tea time bread which my children love . It is a super easy no - fail bread recipe. A perfect way to use the green onions.I came across this recipe on internet.


Ingredients for the Dough

1. Flour (maida) – 180 gm

2. Sugar – 3 Tbsp

3. Salt – ½ tsp

4. Dry yeast – 1 tsp

5. Warm milk – 100 ml

6. Egg -1


Ingredients for the Filling

1. Chopped scallions( green onions) – 2 Tbsp

2. Butter – 2 Tbsp

3. Finely chopped garlic – 1 Tbsp

4. Black pepper – ½ tsp

5. Mozzerella cheese – ½ cup(60gms)

Preparation of Filling

1. Mix green onions with butter,garlic and black pepper and Keep aside.

2. Grated Mozzarella cheese will be used during filling subsequently.


Preparation of Dough

1. Mix sugar and yeast in warm milk.

2. Beat the egg and add to the mix .

3. Mix well and add flour, salt and soft butter to make a smooth sticky dough. Keep mixing with a spatula for 10 minutes.

4. Transfer to a greased bowl. Cover with a wet cloth or cling film and keep aside for one hour.

5. Sprinkle little flour on the mixture and gently knead. Then cover with wet cloth/film again and keep aside for one hour.

6. Dust flour on a wooden board or work place and roll the dough to make a thin rectangular sheet.

7. Spread the green onion mix on half of the sheet and fold the other half over it and spread grated mozzerella cheese over it and roll into a rectangular log pattern and cut into six equal portions.

8. Keep all six portions on a greased baking tray. Cover with wet cloth or cling film and keep aside for 30 minutes .

9. Preheat the oven at 170 degrees.

10. Sprinkle grated mozzerella cheese on top of the rolls and bake it for 15-20 minutes till done.

11. Serve hot.


Tips

Cheddar cheese also can be used instead of mozzarella cheese or a mix of both.
