MOZZARELLA STUFFED MEAT LOAF

This meat loaf is a flavourful ground meat stuffed with mozzarella cheese and is quick and easy to make.



Ingredients

1. Minced meat (mutton or beef) – 500 gm

2. Onion chopped – 1 medium

3. Bread crumbs – 1 cup

4. Dry basil – 1 tsp

5. Dry oregano – 1 tsp

6. Dry parsley (optional) – 1 tsp

7. Red chilli flakes – 1 tsp

8. Black pepper – 1 tsp

9. Salt

10. Milk – ¼ cup

11. Egg small – 1

12. Soya sauce (or Worcestershire sauce) – 1 Tbsp

13. Mozzarella (for stuffing) – 50 gm

For the glaze

1. Ketchup – ½ cup

2. Brown sugar – 2 Tbsp

3. Soya sauce (or Worcestershire sauce) – 1 Tbsp

4. Garlic crushed – 4 cloves

5. Salt


Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 160 degree Celsius. Grease a baking pan or baking tray.

2. In a mixing bowl mix all the wet ingredients (egg, milk and soya sauce). Then add the dry ingredients (minced meat, onion, bread crumb, basil, oregano, parsley, red chilli flakes, salt and pepper). Mix all and knead together. Divide it into half.

3. Shape one half as the bottom half of the loaf and place in the prepared pan. Place mozzarella slices in the centre leaving the ends and sides.

4. Shape the remaining half of the meat mix as the top half of the meat loaf sealing the edges.

5. In a mixing bowl mix together all the ingredients for the glaze. Pour half of this mixture over the meat loaf and reserve the remaining half.

6. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. After 30 minutes remove from the oven and pour the remaining glaze over the loaf. Wait for another 10 minutes. Let it rest for 4-5 minutes before serving.


Tips

1. For a plain loaf skip the mozzarella sauce.
