Home-made chocolates are delicious and healthy favorite of all age groups. It is easy to prepare and can be stored at home provided the chocolate lovers don’t polish it off in no time. It can also be a bundled into wonderful gift for the near and dear ones. Chocolate slabs for making chocolates at home are available in the market in three varieties viz, dark chocolates, white chocolates and milky chocolates.
Ingredients
1. Chocolate bar – 250 gm
2. Oil based essence (coffee or orange or mint or rum etc,) – 2-3 drops
3. Roasted and crushed nuts – 1 Tbsp (optional)
4. Peanut butter – 1 Tbsp (optional)
5. Caramel sauce – 1 Tbsp (optional)
6. Raisins soaked in rum or whisky (optional)
Preparation
1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and melt it in a double boiler or microwave oven. If using microwave oven then melt for 30 seconds at a time and stir it and again keep for another 30 seconds and stir it. Ensure no water goes into the melting compound.
2. Mix the essence in melted chocolate and pour into chocolate moulds and tap it to ensure even spreading.
3. If using nuts or peanut butter, fill half of the mould with melted chocolate and refrigerate for 10 minutes and then spread few of the crushed nuts or ¼ tsp of peanut butter or whatever stuffing you are using and then pour melted chocolate on top of it.
4. Refrigerate for 1 hour or till it sets.
Tips
1. You can prepare bouquets of chocolate by inserting bamboo sticks into each chocolate and wrapping them suitably.
2. You can also use biscuits to be dipped in melted chocolate and refrigerate it.
3. You can make combinations of white and dark chocolate.
