GOOSEBERRY(AMLA) CHUTNEY

This is a simple, tasty and healthy side dish for meals. The Indian gooseberries are a natural immunity booster as it is rich in vitamins C, A, minerals and has anti bacterial and anti inflammatory property.


Ingredients

1. Gooseberry (Amla) – 4

2. Ginger – ½ inch piece

3. Green chillies – 4

4. Coconut grated/chopped - 1 cup

5. Salt

6. Thick curd – ½ cup


For Tempering

1. Oil – 1 Tbsp

2. Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

3. Red chilli -1

4. Asafoetida (hing) – a pinch

5. Curry leaves – few


Preparation

1. Boil amla in enough water to cover for 8-10 minutes on high flame. Remove from water and cool. Remove the seeds and grind with coconut, green chillies, ginger and salt to a coarse paste.

2. Add thick curd and mix well. Keep aside.

3. In pan heat oil, crackle mustard seeds. Then fry red chilli, curry leaves and hing. Pour over the chutney and mix well.


Tips

  1. I used coconut oil for authentic taste.
