EGGLESS CARAMEL CUSTARD

This is an eggless no bake yummy caramel covered simple creamy dessert everybody likes...served warm or chilled- both are comforting . It is a known dessert in European countries. There are many versions and flavours to this recipe. Do give it a try to this simple recipe.

Ingredients

1. Sugar – ¼ cup (For caramel)

2. Bread slices – 6 (Remove sides of bread and powder it.)

3. Custard powder – ¼ cup

4. Water – ½ cup

5. Milk – 1½ cup

6. Sugar – ½ cup

7. Vanilla essence – 1 tsp


Instructions for Caramel

1. Heat a pan and add ¼ cup of sugar.

2. Stir continuously until sugar completely melts.

3. .Lower the flame and stir until it turns golden brown.

4. Turn off flame and add 2 Tbsp of water. Mix well.

5. Pour into a greased pan or mould and rotate so that it covers the bottom of the mould well.


Instructions for Custard

1. Mix custard powder with half cup of water.

2. Boil milk with ½ cup of sugar. Cook on medium flame.

3. Add the custard mix to milk and stir continuously till it is thick.

4. Lower the flame and add bread crumbs in small quantities. Mix well till it is thick.

5. Remove from fire, mix vanilla essence and pour over the caramel.

6. Cover and steam cook on medium flame for 30 minutes.

7. Cool and refrigerate for 3-4 hours.

8. Invert the custard into a suitable plate.

9. Serve cool or warm, as per preference.
